Arrival by car
The arrival by car is convenient and easy. In addition to this site, please also consult the information on motorway (Autobahn) conditions in Austria and any related information concerning winter equipment requirements, to ensure a stressless arrival by car.
Arrival by car from Germany:
Once you are driving on the S16, the Arlberg dual carriageway, take the exit to Pians and keep driving on the Silvretta main road (B188) in the direction of Ischgl for about 7 kilometres. From Germany, three routes will bring you to the S16 in Tyrol:
- You approach See on the German motorway (Autobahn) A7 or A95, both going south. The route takes you to the Fern Pass main road (B179) via Imst and Landeck to the A12 motorway which links onto the S16 (Arlberg dual carriageway) to Pians.
- Take the German A93 towards Innsbruck. The Austrian Inntal motorway (A12) takes you via Kufstein, Innsbruck and Landeck to the S16, the Arlberg dual carriageway, and on to Pians.
- You take the German motorway (Autobahn) A 96 in the direction of Lindau and enter Austria via the A14. Follow this Autobahn to Bregenz, Feldkirch and through the Arlbergtunnel until you get to the S 16, which will take you to Pians. In the summer you have the option to exit the Autobahn in Bludenz and travel to See over the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße (Silvretta High Alpine Road).
Arrival by car from Italy:
Driving on the S16, the Arlberg dual carriageway, take the exit to Pians and keep driving on the Silvretta main road (B188) in the direction of Ischgl for about 7 kilometres. From Italy, two routes will bring you to the S16 in Tyrol:
- You go north on the motorway (Autobahn) A 22 crossing the Brenner to get to the Austrian A 13; in Innsbruck you follow the signs to Bregenz, travel the A 12 until you get to the S 16, on which you continue to Pians.
- You travel north on the SS40 crossing the Reschen Pass and then take the B180 into Austria. This route will take you via Nauders and Landeck to the S16 in the direction of Bregenz and all the way to Pians.
Arrival by car from Switzerland:
For arrival by car you will approach Austria on the A3 to Feldkirch or on the A1 to Lustenau and Dornbirn. In Austria, follow the A14 in the direction of Innsbruck. Remain on this Autobahn and pass through the Arlbergtunnel, then take the S16 to exit Pians. Take this exit and stay on the Silvretta Bundesstraße (B 188) in the direction of Ischgl until you reach the vicinity of the turnoff to See. In the summer you have the option to exit the Autobahn in Bludenz and travel to See over the Silvretta Hochalpenstraße (Silvretta High Alpine Road).
Special travel information:
Please remember that toll vignettes are mandatory for travel on all Austrian motorway (Autobahn) and expressway (Schnellstrasse) routes. If you should get caught without this mandatory sticker, you will be subject to severe penalties. You can purchase vignettes with validities of ten days, two months or an entire year at petrol stations and tobacco kiosks.
For the arrival by car especially during the winter months, winter tires and adequate winter equipment are mandatory for your vehicle to ensure a safe journey. In the event of severe weather, the use of snow chains may become mandatory. To prevent problems, make sure you acquire the appropriate snow chains for your vehicle before you embark on your trip.

Arrival by car from Germany:

- To get to Ischgl you take the German A7 or A95 heading south. The route takes you to the Fern Pass main road (B179) via Imst and Landeck to the A12 motorway which links onto the S16 (Arlberg dual carriageway) to Pians.

Please bear in mind that you require a motorway toll sticker (Vignette) to drive on Austrian motorways and expressways. Should you be caught without one, you will be facing severe fines. The toll stickers with an optional validity of ten days, two months or a whole year are available at the motorway Austrian borders, service stations, filling stations and tobacco kiosks.
