Chapels in See in Tyrol
Sightseeing in the Tyrolean Mountains
Within the surroundings of the first holiday resort in the Paznaun Valley many small, charming chapels can be discovered. These can be reached in summer as well as winter via very well marked and signposted hiking paths. Combine relaxation, sport and culture during your holidays in Tyrol and enjoy a bit of sightseeing in the Paznaun Valley.
Lourdes Chapel
The original Lourdes Chapel, a simple, building lovingly created from wood, was once situated at edge of the forest at the Schusterhaus Village. In 1976 the chapel was restored by the "Seaber" Youth (young farmers). After a rock slide in 1992 the chapel had to be replaced by a protective dam, but was built anew and integrated into the dam.
Oberhaus Chapel
Oberhaus is a small village in See, consisting of just one farm and one chapel. On the inside the chapel has a circa 250-year-old statue of Mary by the sculptor Johann Ladner, who also created the larger-than-life-sized wood figurines of the Kerker Chapel in Kappl.
Habigen Chapel
The chapel in Habigen was built in 1882 and is home to a very beautiful picture of Holy Mary, which was donated by a great son of the See municipality, the painter Mathias Schmid. The chapel was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and St John of Nepomuk and has a beautiful small altar which was made from a sketch of a town councillor of Innsbruck, Friedrich Maurer.
