Culinary way of St. James

On the culinary way of St James in the Tyrolean Paznaun, you will find the perfect combination of walking and gourmet dining.

Internationally acclaimed chefs present new interpretations of regional dishes in the mountain chalets and huts along the Culinary Way of St James. These creations are then offered throughout the summer in the mountain chalets and huts along this walking route in Tyrol.

In the summer of 2010, for example, these internationally acclaimed chefs visited Paznaun in the Tyrolean Mountains for the second time. The following chefs were participants:

  • Eckart Witzigmann: Chef of the century and patron of the Culinary Way of St James
  • Gerrit Greveling: Chalet Royal in Den Bosch, The Netherlands
  • Martin Herrmann: Le Pavillon, Bad Peterstal-Griesbach in Germany
  • Franz Fuiko: Carpe Diem Finest Finger-foods in Salzburg city centre
  • Ivo Adam: Seven Ascona, Switzerland

The indulgence-route in See is part of the Culinary Way of St James and starts in the village centre. Past a few hamlets, the route leads to an incomparable waterfall. At 1800m above sea level one then reaches the attraction spa-resort Medrigalm. As a final hurdle one finally reaches the Ascher-hut at 2256m. The breathtaking panoramic views of the Blanka- and Rotpleis-summits reward the walkers for their climb.

On the return journey back to the valley on this walk in Tyrol, one returns to the Medrigalm via the Versingalp. This route offers a beautiful view over the Verwall group of mountains.

Alternatively, this route can also be taken by mountain bike. For those wanting a bit of an easier trip, there is the option of covering the first part of the route to the Medrigalm by cable car.

Walking in Tyrol and tasting exquisite, gourmet Tyrolean cuisine – this is the harmonic combination you can enjoy on the Culinary Way of St James. A no-obligation quotation for your accommodation in See is the best way to get your indulgent holiday in the Tyrolean Alps started.
