Hiking routes in Tyrol: hike from one alpine chalet to the next
Experience truly hospitable hiking in Tyrol: alpine huts in the Paznaun Valley

Hiking from hut to hut in the Tyrolean Alps
Numerous alpine huts and chalets await you across the entire Paznaun Valley. Some are located near the hiking paths, while others are in rather well hidden spots. But what they all have in common is great Tyrolean tidbits and refreshments, cold drinks and snacks to regain your strength during your hiking routes in Tyrol.
Wasserfall – Versingalpe – Medrigalm - light tour – 3 hours
From the church you head for the hamlet of Schaller, following the road. Take a right onto the forest road, walking past an impressive waterfall. After this you will reach a junction, which will lead you to the Schallerbach river on the right. On a footpath walk along the river to reach the Versing Alpe. Surrounded by alpine pastures and grazing cows the chalet offers wonderful local products for sale: aromatic cheese, milk and a traditional Austrian snack with alm butter.
Niederelbe Chalet – medium tour – 6 to 7 hours
Walk from Kappl along the road until you reach the Ulmich hamlet. From the Haus Alpenheim the road leads through a narrow alley on your right to a footpath. Through meadows and forest clearings the path leads you past a small chapel. Follow the footpath on your left past the hay bales and walk through the Fatlartal Valley. Next to the crystal clear Riepasee lake you will reach the Kiehler high altitude path, which brings you to the Gsessgrad and the Niederelbehuette chalet.
Friedrichshafener Chalet - medium tour – 2 hours
On this hiking tour to an alpine hut in the Paznaun Valley you willl walk from the Mehrzweckhaus in Ischgl via the Valzur towards Piel to reach the parking space of the Friedrichshafener Chalet. Then you can choose whether you want to walk on the footpath or on the forest road. After a break you can continue hiking onwards towards Grieskogel. It is well worth it, the views across Galltuer are simply stunning. The Jamtal Valley with its glaciers and 3,000 metre peaks is also fun to explore. Return following the same hiking route.
Wiesbadner Chalet (via Rad saddle) – medium tour – 4 hours
From the village square in Galtuer follow the valley hiking path to reach the Silvretta high alpine road and later the Bielerhoehe. Walk left along the dam and at the signpost take a left on the hiking path and continue onwards hiking to the Bieltal Valley. Through the Bieltal Valley you will reach the Rad saddle via a serpentine road. From here the path leads you to the Wiesbadener Chalet. The views across several 3,000 metre peaks such as the Piz Buin, the Silvrettahorn and the Schneelgocke will be your reward after the steep hike up.
