Watersurf contest in See
Piste fun of a slightly different kind – at the water-surf contest on the 23rd of April 2011 in See in Tyrol the contestants attempt to cross an ice-water lake on skis, snowboards or by other means.
“In the end they will all get wet!” - This could be the motto for the yearly Water-Surf Contests in Tyrol. The aim is, to stay dry crossing the artificially manufactured lake after a run up on the slope. What kind of aid people use to attempt the challenge is by no means restricted. In the “crazy vehicle class” you can choose anything you like:
- Pirate ship
- Inflatable air bed
- UFO
- Rubber dinghy
- Car tyre
As well as with these slightly eccentric transport options, people can also choose to compete in the “ski” or “snowboard” categories. Due to the icy temperatures and the low chance of actually crossing the ice-water-lake and staying dry, the most important part of all the contestants’ equipment should be a dry spare set of clothes (and a towel!)
Even if you wouldn’t like to take part in the water-surf contest, probably the strangest springtime event in Tyrol, See offers you a charming ski resort that is especially suitable for families.
After the cold winter months the sun starts to shine more often and for longer in the Tyrolean mountains. This is the best time to enjoy sunshine skiing and firn skiing, on a springtime winter holiday in the family ski region See. The ski season lasts until the end of the Easter holidays.
Dare to take part in the next water-surf contest in See? Even for spectators this springtime event in Tyrol is very amusing. Find your accommodation for a ‘damp-happy’ winter holiday in the Tyrolean Paznaun here.
