Fear of Heights

1,530 metres of vertical adrenaline

More than just a long run: the Fear of Heights 1530 in the See ski area is one of the most spectacular descents in Paznaun. Starting at over 2,500 metres above sea level, the route leads all the way down to the valley, covering an impressive 1,530 vertical metres – more than any other run in Paznaun.

The descent combines high-alpine terrain with forest sections and sporty steep slopes. Those who set off here experience a varied run with panoramic views, technical sections and a final stretch that demands full concentration.

This makes the Fear of Heights not only one of the longest runs in the See ski area, but also one of the most impressive – perfect for anyone who enjoys long runs and skiing plenty of vertical metres.

Important information at a glance

  • Starting point: Furglerblick mountain station (2,570 m)
  • Destination: Medrigjochbahn valley station / lake (1,040 m)
  • Length: approx. 13 km
  • Elevation gain: 1,530 m
  • Difficulty: mostly red with challenging sections
  • Character: long downhill run with varied terrain
  • Special feature: highest altitude difference of all descents in Paznaun
  • Panorama: View of the Furgler (3,004 m) and the surrounding Silvretta mountains

The Fear of Heights begins at the Furglerblick top station at around 2,570 metres. Right at the start, it is worth taking a moment to look back: the panorama stretches across the Silvretta range to the distinctive summit of the Furgler. The run begins with the Furglerblick slope, where wide and clearly visible sections provide the perfect opportunity to gain momentum. The terrain here is still moderate – ideal for easing into the long descent towards the valley.

Further down, the route continues onto the Rossmoos slope, where the terrain becomes noticeably more challenging. The piste alternates between open sections and narrower passages that require careful line choice. One of the most impressive parts of the run leads through the Rossmoos forest. Here the descent winds through snow-covered woodland, giving the run a very special character – technically demanding, yet scenically particularly appealing.

Shortly before reaching the valley, the most famous section of the route awaits: the Brückenschuss. This steep slope is one of the most demanding parts of the entire descent and requires full concentration and controlled skiing once again. After this final challenge, the last metres lead more gently down to the valley station of the Medrigjochbahn in See. With more than 1,500 metres of vertical descent and around 13 kilometres in length, the Fear of Heights is a real challenge – and a run that remains memorable long after the final turn.
